I'm looking forward to spring.

  1. I thought that was some stock picture of random roadies, then I took a closer look. Looks like we were in Colorado.

I have been thinking... maybe we ought to keep the logo slightly on the American War propaganda looking side of things as opposed to Soviet looking. A lot of the big money in the area might be put off. I would hate to alienate half of the population right from the start.

  2. I've been thinking alot about revolution and what the word means. If our revolution is about replacing a group that is currently leading I am really worried about alienating alot of people. But if our revolution=resolution according to the laws that govern us then we will build a strong community... and maybe something that will grow to more.

  3. We believe in something about bikes, creativity, community, and space. The work we are doing is coming from an honest place of love, joy, hope and commitment. This will come through over time in our message and in our action. I am not worried. No one is doing this work. we are not replacing, we are generating possibility, sparked by thousands of people in our their own places and spaces doing work coming from the former. We are the keepers of what we call freedom; no one gives it to us--we hold it for ourselves and for one another. This is an intergenerational dialogue, and we are all seeking to get back to something simple. What is more simple than a bike ride through the park(okay, so it might be a walk or someone on a single speed).

  4. First impressions are important and somebody who is immediately put off by certain imagery or vocabulary might not eventually get the message. Choose carefully. It is easy to buy into your own project.

Streamline a vision to sell to a farmer, a cop, an engineer, a punk, a conservative business owner, a scientist etc. then you have something. If you can sell it to the skeptics then you can sell it to anyone. I think I'm about as dedicated to cycling as anyone, and I'm not yet convinced. Sell it to me and Kathy as a good starting spot.

I am with you on the goal, but I don't know if I like the approach. I wish I could tell you what I would respond favorably to, but I don't know yet. I'm working on it though.

Some of the stuff I'm hearing right now makes me want to start riding motorcycles again! :)

  5. When I hear leaders in the community say their vision for Pullman is a liveable, bikable, and walkable community. I realize that what we want is what the community as a whole wants. We live in a very diverse small community full of open minded people, we don't need to change anyone. My vision for more than two years now is, to show people the beauty and potential of the region seen from the seat of a bicycle.

  6. Kathy and I both really like the livable, walkable, and bikeable community thing. And I really like Reeses idea about making the Palouse a cycling destination. If we could work that into the mission statement, we might also get the Chamber of Commerce on our side.

While I agree there are many open minded people in the area, most of my dealings during the day are with people locked into a different sort of lifestyle than many of you are used to. I would love to make an impact in this segment of the community.

And by the way, with all the talk about sustainability issues with the open minded people at WSU, why are they not walking and riding? Why does it take $3+ gasoline to get people going? Get on that would you Reese.
